Vanny Comes Home!

Oh what a journey! Words cannot describe the helplessness a parent feels when their child is hurting. Van's surgery went well. As the doc thought, he had a major obstruction in his left kidney/ureter. They couldn't find a vein to start his IV, taking 5 different nurses and 45 minutes(luckily he was asleep, though he looked like a pin cushion when we got to see him). When they moved us from recovery to our room, his catheter broke off and 4 nurses discussed how this never happened and how they would get a new one in. By this time, Vanny was pretty awake, unfortunately. So many tubes and wires coming from him. Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Joey and PK came to visit. Daddy had an adventurous night with PK and I stayed with Van. All in all, Van was tired of getting messed with.
We left for home the day after surgery. Vanny was so glad to get home and instantly wanted to inspect his exersaucer. Most of his pain is isolated to the first 36 hours, and he is doing fine on regular tylenol. VPK were glad to see eachother-talking in coos. Having our family home together again was a perfect way to spend our 8th wedding anniversary. My mom made us a great dinner and we retired early. Van has to have periodic ultrasounds to make sure that his kidney is functioning properly. He also has a stint in that will have to be removed when he is older in an out-patient procedure. Thank God for our family together again.
